Seiya san's service (in English!) is top notch! Seiya san reached out to me about several potential apartments a month after I told him I gave up on apartment hunting. He offered to show me this amazing apartment on the first day it became available. We checked out the apartment and it turned out to tick every single checkbox on my list (which is not short). I was so happy with the apartment that I told Seiya san right on the spot that I would take it. During the application process, Seiya san helped me (in English!) jump through all the hoops from the property office and the guarantor company. He is straightforward but not blunt, patient but not condescending. Even after I finally got the keys the new apartment, Seiya san accompanied me to the new apartment to make sure the utilities and air conditioners were functioning properly, to check the condition of the wallpaper etc, and to tell me about more detailed information about the apartment. He took care of me even after the application process. If your looking for an apartment that fits all of your criteria, and you want someone who will help you every step of the way (in English!), you can never go wrong with Seiya san!

In our early meetings, I tried to explain my priorities and constraints, and Mr. Kato’s apartment selections quickly came to be a very good match to what I was looking for. I should comment that the timing of my apartment move was forced, by unrelated circumstances, to happen just at the end of the COVID restrictions in Tokyo/Kanagawa, and I had very little time to make the move. The market for apartments was crazy at that time — very very fast. Even under this challenging condition, with Mr. Kato’s help I was able to find an apartment that I was comfortable moving into. I have now been here almost two months, and I am very pleased with no regrets for the decision. 2 years ago, Kato-san helped me find the perfect apartment in central Tokyo. Now, with the work-from-home situation in 2020, I needed a larger place with an extra room without paying the central Tokyo premium. I knew Kato-san would be able to help me find the perfect place once more, and he succeeded, beyond expectation: when another couple had applied to the apartment before us, we thought it was over, but Kato-san didn’t give up and found out from the rental agency that the other couple had withdrawn and we were now first in line, and were able to move in quickly. I am very happy with the service I received and eternally thankful to Takeshi-san for all his help. I had very specific and special requirements (reinforced concrete apartment with a loft, limited budget), and Takeshi-san worked with me to find the best apartment fitting these. As always his experience and advice helped navigate the unknowns of apartment hunting, for example at one of the places visited he pointed out a notice about noise complaints, and when we found the final apartment he recommended to measure the place for the washing machine to ensure my current one will fit as the place was smaller than usual. The apartment is handled by a management company previously unknown to Takeshi-san, but he worked a lot to get all the question cleared up and very patiently explained the details of the lease (e.g. it's a one-year fixed term contract, half of the deposit is nonrefundable, but incidentals first come from that). He also helped with the utilities, which ensured a smooth transition from the old to the new apartment.

Moving house in Japan and not being able to speak Japanese is daunting. However, thanks to Tokyo Apartment Inc. (and in particular Seiya Kato-san), the entire process went smoothly. Not only were they friendly and professional, but they really prioritised our needs and wants. We would certainly recommend them, and should we move house in Japan again, they will be our first point of contact!
