The Hara Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the most important private art museums in Japan. The building was originally built as a private home. It was designed by JinWatanabe (1887-1973) and completed in 1938. In 1979, it was converted to an art museum. Jin Watanabe is a well-known Japanese architect who designed the Wako in Ginza( 1932 ), Tokyo National Museum (1937) in Ueno and Daiichi-Life Building(1938) in Yurakucho.
